If you follow me on Facebook, then you already know there’s a ‘’Reveal” coming. After 2 months of renovation here & in their Ensuite, this stunning Master Bedroom was completed and given back to my clients.
This project was a pretty major overhaul – you can see here where we started…..when the Ensuite was renovated, the door into it was moved over to the right, and changed to a pocket door. Moving that door created a much more functional space on the bedroom side.
The goal of this transformation was to create a retreat for my clients – a space that felt serene and elegant, and …well, not orange….and that made better use of the large room.
The carpet was replaced with a satin finish maple hardwood, which was continued throughout the entire upper floor.
Step one was creating a scale floor plan and sourcing furniture pieces that were appropriate to the size of the space, and that created a new seating area.
These chairs fit the bill perfectly
with the round tufted ottoman,
mirrored dresser, and area rug rounding out this side of the room.
The Ensuite had already created a ‘starting point’ for the colour scheme, so we blended a soft mix of pale creams and dove gray, a kind of hushed palette that would be soft and refined
and a cream and beige houndstooth fabric on both the ottoman and the bench at the end of the bed
The scale of the upholstered headboard and base allowed for larger bedside chests; these have a gilt finish with antiqued mirror tops and fronts, and relate to the shape and finish of the small 3 tiered table in the seating area.
With two ‘zones’, we addressed the lighting requirements with wall mounted bedside sconces (freeing up nightstand space), a large scale centre fixture in cream silk, a similar but smaller shaded ceiling fixture and 2 pot lights in the recessed sitting area.
Drapery panels always finish a space, and this room is no exception. The cream and light taupe area rug adds another soft pattern. Accessories were layered in, but kept simple and sophisticated.
I love how this room finished – and most importantly, so do my clients. There’s kind of a quiet, gentle feel to this space – there’s no one piece that’s taking centre stage; it’s a harmonious balance of subtleties creating the overall beauty and elegance.
Sweet dreams Kim & Glenn, thank you for inviting me into your project!
