This is the story of how a dreary & sad guest bedroom (that clearly didn’t even deserve sheets, poor dear) became brilliant and dazzling. It was actually even drearier than this ‘Before’ pic, because before ‘Before’, it was still Builder Beige with bad carpet.
New carpet & spectacular wall color – Sherwin Williams Passive (7064), a cool blue-ish gray. Those were the first steps….My client wanted fabulous, but budget fabulous – because after all, it’s a guest bedroom, and there was nothing really wrong with the pieces she had….if you overlooked the fact that they were quite dreadful.
With some paint, nail head creativity, and new crystal knobs we turned what she had into….
Well, Hello Gorgeous
Once this dresser was primed & painted Gloss Black, the new knobs were added.
The flower design was drawn on using chalk, and about 400 nail heads & 1 hour later, it was pretty stunning:
(Zinsser Cover Stain Primer, Sherwin Williams All Surface Enamel in SW6990 Caviar)
Now how about some knock-out Va-Voom on the hand-me-down night stands.
In the form of Painters Touch ‘Berry Pink’ spray paint?
Those sensational bedside lamps, you ask? Thrifted for $10 each, and chosen for their shape and height. Spray painted Rustoleum Satin Nickel…..
To match the spray painted headboard, natch.
Side note: Each picture seems to ‘read’ the Berry Pink a bit differently. In case you’re considering some pink va-voom yourself, here’s a tip, and accurate likenesses. I first tried Valspar Bright Pink. Think garish Barbie Massacre. Wrong Pink. The Painters Touch Pink is still vibrant & a little flamboyant, but it’s softer, and very pretty.
White lampshades, bedding & drapery were the finishing touches, along with some raspberry accents:
Guest bedroom excellence, charm on a budget, and a ton of flair.

It’s beautiful and I got all excited for a minute because I was going to invite myself to come and stay with you. Then I re-read and, while I’m certain that they’re lovely people and I do love their guest room, it just wouldn’t be the same. Well done, SS! xo, Kimberly
They ARE lovely people Kimberly, and she’s a much better cook than I, I think you’d do better there….but then we couldn’t stay up late and braid each others hair and talk about boys. And do facials.
Thanks SS…xoT.
