I don’t know WHY I DIY the projects I do. I realize that sounds a little “Seussical”, but here’s what I mean.
I know I could find lamps for my living room at any number of retail sources, but when this pair of fantastically ugly ones entered my world, I knew they were the ones. It was as though we were meant to be together. Plus, I love spray paint. I mean, I really L.O.V.E. spray paint.

Perfect perfect perfect.
Another example – For those of you connecting with me on the soulstyle facebook page, this project is old news. BUT, worthy of writing about because I want to it was so easy and SO beautiful.
The Mister and I popped in to one of the Antique/Old Junk markets that we regularly stalk, and I turned a corner and there she was – the most beautiful, scarred, old, battered dining room table.
Problem with this is we already HAVE a dining room table, which I spent hours days weeks painting and re-upholstering just a couple years ago. And I adore it.
What we needed was a coffee table, for the living room, to live with those amazing new lamps. In Misters never ending quest to make me happy, he figured he could just cut the legs down on that dining height beauty and she would be a coffee table.
And just one more so the awesome-ness is fully absorbed….
In all, we took about a foot out of the centre of the legs – basically just removing the smooth portion of the leg, so that all the lovely turns in the legs would still be there. Mister drilled some holes in the chopped legs, glued in some dowels, and re-attached them together.
In this particular instance of creative genius, I was really just the driving force as opposed to offering any wisdom.
My need for instant gratification probably wouldn’t have resulted in thinking about leg integrity - chalk one for males logic vs. females quest for beauty.
I think my obsession with Craigs List & Kijiji drive this project list.
These two in particular caught my eye and were quite the impressive score really.

Tracy, that is such a beautiful transformation! I just saw it on Remodelaholic’s link party. The wall caught my eye, that is beautiful too! It is unique, and not something anyone else will have, something to treasure.
That table made a gorgeous coffee table! What a great find! And please, I must know more about your wall. Is that some sort of wood panel? Is it a painted design? It’s stunning!

i love getting things off of craigslist and at the goodwill too!! it makes me sick when i think of how much money i have spent on furniture in the past. the cheapies that i get from thrift stores and re-do are so much more beautiful and meaningful. and so much more personal(ized)!!! i love the cut down dining table as a coffee table…
