Decorating Domino Effect

It’s not like I just ‘create’ projects in our house, it’s more like they seek me out – and who am I to ignore the pleas?  Right now, it’s the family room howling.

I completely blame technology.  Here’s why, and don’t feel bad if you don’t follow my logic, it means you’re normal.

We finally leapt on the bandwagon of 2006 and purchased a flat screen TV for the family room & wall mounted it.  Which meant the corner hogging TV cabinet was outta there –giving us what seemed like an enormous amount of space. We moved furniture around and decided that the chairs we’d just reupholstered for our office would be fantastic in here instead.

Here they are all nekkid and ready to be re-done.

Done & done – fancy, right?  Total cost about $100/chair.  Makes me love them even more.

Of course, this now means that we have no office chairs.  Hello Domino Effect.

The chairs are in the family room, but now the area rug in there didn’t match, so we robbed our bedroom of that one.  I will tell you how thankful I am that we have a white sofa.  Always works.

What’s not working is the wall color; a lovely soft serene blue, that was painted about 6 months ago.  That now needs to be gray.

Mister declared this change “not urgent”. Which I did not understand. I think he’s taking up meditation. Or maybe yoga.

So, we’re painting….YAY!

The gray is chosen, and the only thing wrong with the room when it’s done will be the floors…..which are terracottapukeorange tile.  And I’m completely smitten with the idea of barn board flooring there.

A new floor in there has always been part of ‘the plan’, but I’m wishing for Bewitched-like powers to have it now.

All three of these walls are fantastic – and I want them on my floor.  Well, minus the Blue Buffalo logo….according to Google it’s dog food.  I guess for that dog right there.

The beautiful grayed, worn patina of barn board has me besotted and I believe we were made for each other.

All because of a new TV.  And it is because of this decorating Domino Effect that we will be living on cat food when we’re old.  With gorgeous floors.

  1. How funny Tracy, I have been pinning and pinning wall treatments done in wood. I love the rooms you showed. I don’t know why these rooms speak to me, but I love every single one I see.

  2. Hi Tracy…came to you via Chic on a Shoestring and browsed for a while! I love the chair redo! And, I love that you’re only an hour away! Canadian eh? I’ll be following you…for one thing, I really like the way you talk in written word….”terracottapukeorange” …fun!
